Outlaws Make Last Stand on Dirt Track Fright Night
The Outlaws of the Dirt Track at Meridian Speedway go for one last ride Saturday, October 20, as the PitStopUSA.com Summer Dirt Series concludes its 2018 campaign with Championship Fright Night. The Pee Wee, Box Stock, Hot Rod, 250 Open, Predator Stox, Senior 4 Cycle, 500 Open classes battle the twelfth-mile dirt oval and each other as they make their final drive for their season titles.
With five feature victories to his credit in 2018, Anthony Latham leads Paxton Guiles and the rest of a young, scrappy Pee Wee division into Saturday afternoon’s action.
Brady Williams is the only racer to make each and every start in the Box Stock ranks, and as such holds a commanding point lead. But there’s a three-driver battle brewing for runner up honors as Makayla Trafford, Tristan Allen, and Cadie Horne roll into Championship Fright Night separated by just thirteen points.
Consistency has been the watchword for Hudson Eccles, and though he is winless thus far in 2018, the youngster holds a dominating 73 point lead in the Hot Rod ranks. Can Eccles cap his campaign with a win Saturday?
Hunter Perala hit his stride late in the season, and with back-to-back Predator Stox wins hoisted himself atop the season standings. Behind Perala, Trevor Ford and Dakota Allen find themselves in a spirited battle for runner up honors.
The Senior 4 Cycle title will be claimed by the Smitchger family, but with just fourteen markers between them, watch for Eric and Dale’s rivalry to heat up on Championship Fright Night.
Neveah Hull has sped her way to the top of the 250 Open division, but will have to fend off Larry Butterfield and Austin Wiederich as they battle for the checkers and the championship.
Kaleb Johnson leads the field of 500 Open competitors to green Saturday night. But with just fifteen points separating the top six point runners everything is up for grabs on Championship Fright Night.
Registration for the final PitStopUSA.com Summer Dirt Series race opens at noon, with the pit meeting at 1:30 p.m. and racing at 3:30 p.m. Kart entry fee is $30, track side pit passes are $12 for adults, $6.50 for military members, seniors and children under 12 years of age. All spectator tickets are $5. We’ll see you this Saturday, October 20, for the PitStopUSA.com Summer Dirt Series Championship Fright Night at the Dirt Track at Meridian Speedway.
