Monsters Invade Meridian Speedway for Dairy Days

Meridian Speedway welcomes the 89th annual Dairy Days Celebration with a bang Saturday, June 23, as the Malicious Monster Truck Insanity Tour invades the quarter-mile asphalt oval. Alongside the toughest trucks in the West, the Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornets and Bombers provide an old-fashioned racing thrill show.
The high-flying, earth-shaking Malicious Monster Truck Insanity Tour returns to Meridian Speedway this Dairy Days Saturday for a one-night-only cavalcade of catastrophe. A rough and tumble six pack of monsters including Rock Star, Willy Crash, Pound Hound, Beastmode, Identity Theft, and tank-themed Major Payne tear it up under the carnival lights as they compete for Best Trick, Obstacle Course Racing, and Freestyle honors.
But the ground-pounding excitement doesn’t stop there. Gates open at 4:45 p.m. in anticipation of the Malicious Monster Truck Pit Party at 5 p.m. Meet the men and women behind the wheel of your favorite truck, then climb aboard Deogee or Skeletor to take your own turn in a full-tilt monster truck.
The Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornets faceoff Saturday as their championship chase reaches the halfway point. Nampa, Idaho’s Chuck Youngblood scored his first main event victory of 2018 in the division’s June 9 meeting, and now holds a comfortable one hundred two point lead over Tommy Harrod. But fortunes can change quickly within the paint-trading Big Daddy’s Barbecue Hornet pack.
The cars may be built in a day, but the Bomber division has gained speed in its debut season. After an action-packed slalom race, Mirinda Miles established herself at the head of the Bomber class. But Doug McGarva has a handle on his maroon machine and looks to close the gap on Miles when the green flag waves Saturday.
General admission to Saturday night’s full night of monster truck destruction is just $20 for adults, $18.50 for seniors and military members, and $12 for kids 7-11. As always, kids 6 and under get in free. Skip the line at the gate and purchase your advance tickets at meridianspeedway.com. We’ll save a seat for you Saturday, June 23 under the big yellow water tower at your NASCAR Home Track, Meridian Speedway.
