Racing returns to Meridian Speedway Saturday, May 17, as the speedway plays host to the 8th annual Idaho Veteran’s Network Reunion for Afghanistan and Iraq service men and women . On this Military Appreciation Night members of the armed services and their families will gain free admission to the grandstands with their military identification for a night of action from six racing divisions.
“The rest of the country uses Memorial Day to thank our veterans,” says Meridian Speedway managing partner Adam Nelson. “We hold Military Appreciation Night a week before Memorial Day to make sure we have plenty of time to thank and appreciate our veterans and our service men and women.”
Activities on Military Appreciation Night will include a static tank display and full color guard flag presentation before the National Anthem. Racing will feature the Project Filter Pro-4s, Coors Super Stocks, Team Mazda Subaru Mini Stocks, Thunderdogs, a rookies only Tates Rents Hornets race, and the season debut of the Domino’s Legends, who will vie for the early-season momentum to carry them through back-to-back race weekends.
This Saturday also marks the first installment of the IDADIV Credit Union Penny Gold Rush of the new racing year. Parents make sure to arrive early and register your child to scramble for pennies.
Gates open Saturday at 4 p.m. and seating will fill up fast. General admission tickets are $10.25, and available online at meridianspeedway.com for those looking to skip ticket booth lines. As always Saturday night racing action begins at 6:30 p.m.
