Variety was the rule during Meridian Speedway’s final Test and Tune session. From Tates Rents Hornets to Budweiser Modifieds over a dozen classes took laps Saturday. The midweek addition of track sealant and unseasonably warm conditions combined for a fast racing surface.
“The tracks’ good today,” said former CWI Street Stock champion Marv Weaver.
Among the 30 plus cars that logged practice laps, eight NAPA Big 5 Latemodels used Saturday to prepare for next weekend’s season opening race.
With all three Test and Tune sessions in the books race fans can finally focus on wheel to wheel action. Saturday, April 26 the NAPA Big 5 Latemodels will join Pepsi Sprintcars, Project Filter Pro-4’s, CWI Street Stocks and Junior Stingers for the first race of the speedway’s 63rd season. Gates open at 4 with racing to follow at 6:30. General admission is $10.50 and as always kids 6 and under are free.
