Jeff Russell Benefit Settles Big 5 Latemodel Season

Meridian Speedway gives back to one of the asphalt quarter-mile’s legends this Saturday, September 8, as the Jeff Russell Road to Recovery 85 rolls into the concrete jungle. The NAPA Auto Parts Big 5 Latemodel Series settles their season in the evening’s title race, while the PitStopUSA.com NASCAR Modifieds, Domino’s Legends, Teleperformance Claimer Stocks, and Junior Stingers fight for the Certified Services hardware.
Kyle Tellstrom leads the NAPA Auto Parts Big 5 Latemodel Series into its ultimate race of 2018. With two wins under his belt and a sixty point lead the Ukiah, California native just needs to survive 85 laps to take home the title.
Bryan Warf has been the dominant force in the PitStopUSA.com NASCAR Modifieds this season. Warf’s eight wins matches the total of his two closest competitors combined. But don’t count defending champion Colton Nelson out just yet, as he has a full five races to make something happen.
Youngsters Zach Telford and Donovan Barr find themselves locked in a tight Domino’s Legends points battle. As the division enters its final two features Barr must make every lap count if he’s to usurp Telford.
Teleperformance Claimer Stock rivals Josh Fanopoulos and Taylor Occhipinti lead their full-bodied brethren into Jeff Russell Road to Recovery night action. With just three races left to settle the title fight don’t be surprised if fenders—and tempers—fly during Saturday night’s feature.
With his win in the Junior Stingers’ last race, Cody Castricone moved past Rusty Houpt for the top spot in the division standings. Just five markers separate Castricone and Houpt, which makes every position earned that much more valuable.
Along with a full slate of racing action, Stinker Stores presents the Candy Rush for Kids during intermission.
General admission is just $11.50 for adults, $9 for seniors and military members, and $6.50 for kids 7-11. Gates open at 4:45 p.m. with racing at 6:45 p.m. Logon to meridianspeedway.com for all the latest news and notes from around the quarter-mile and text ‘meridianspeed’ to 84483 for exclusive content. We’ll see you this Saturday, September 8, under the big yellow water tower for the Jeff Russell Road to Recovery 85 at your NASCAR Home Track, Meridian Speedway.
