Classics, Customs Crash Speedway Season for Hot August Cruise and Drag Night

Old school cool takes over Meridian Speedway this Saturday, August 19, as the quarter-mile oval hosts Hot August Cruise and Drag Night. Alongside a wide variety of hot rods and wicked custom cars, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modifieds, Project Filter Pro-4s, and Teleperformance Claimer Stocks battle for the Shake N Bake Racing trophy.

Defending NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modified champion Colton Nelson races into Hot August Cruise and Drag Night with more than just a track championship on his mind. With the NASCAR Division One season winding down, the Meridian, Idaho racer looks to Saturday night’s double main events to catapult him to a state championship.

A mere 22 markers separate veteran Project Filter Pro-4 competitors Kenny Chandler and Joe Barton as they speed onto the quarter-mile oval. Just three races remain on the 2017 calendar after Saturday night, and a win for either racer could prove pivotal come season’s end.

For the sixth grueling week in a row the Teleperformance Claimer Stocks rumble into Meridian Speedway. Through this tough stretch Brian Hyde has kept Dan Lowther at bay, but just one slip could turn the standings in Lowther’s favor.

Classic car fans will be treated to the annual Meridian Speedway cruise, stoplight drags, and burnout competition.

General admission to Saturday’s Hot August Cruise and Drag Night is just $11 for adults, $8.50 for seniors and military members, $6.50 for kids 7-11 and as always kids 6 and under get in free. Gates open at 4 p.m. with qualifying at 5:15 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m.  We’ll see you this Saturday, August 19, under the big yellow water tower for Hot August Cruise and Drag Night at your NASCAR Home Track, Meridian Speedway.
